Vietnam celebrates its National Day on September 2, with this year’s public holiday stretching from August 30 to September 2.
Phu Quoc International Airport on Sunday reported about 100 flights bringing domestic and international travelers to Phu Quoc island, a tourist hub in the province, for the holiday.
Meanwhile, dozens of high-speed ferries and boats also transported visitors to Son, Nam Du, and Phu Quoc islands.
Nguyen Ha Trieu, operation director of Nautilus Cruise in Phu Quoc, said around 200 to 300 foreign tourists joined daily tours during the first two days of the holiday, enjoying sightseeing, sea walking, and coral diving.
“Recent rain and wind may have slowed the number of tourists heading to An Thoi islands, but many instead chose attractions like Grand World Phu Quoc or Sunset Town,” he added.

Nguyen Van Suu, a tourist from Hanoi, said his family chose Phu Quoc as the ideal destination thanks to its beaches, large-scale amusement complexes, and a fireworks show celebrating National Day.
Elsewhere in An Giang, destinations such as Chau Doc, Sam Mountain, Cam Mountain, Tuc Dup Hill, Tra Su Cajuput Forest, and the sugar palm fields in Chi Lang Ward have drawn young travelers eager for photo shoots, sightseeing, and learning about the history of the Bay Nui region.

The provincial Department of Tourism reported that An Giang welcomed more than 139,200 domestic and international visitors on August 31 alone, including nearly 22,000 to Phu Quoc, with about 5,000 foreigners.
Tourism revenue was estimated at over VND158 billion (US$5.9 million).
