Should I sell my house to fund my daughter’s master’s degree in US?

My daughter has been unemployed for four months, but she recently received a 50% scholarship for a master’s program in the U.S., leaving us to cover nearly VND1.5 billion ($57,000) in remaining tuition and expenses.

I am 58, married, and have two children: an eldest daughter and a younger son who was born with a disability. My wife and I worked hard to care for him, and he can now live fairly independently and handle household tasks on his own.

Because of my son’s condition, we have always been very protective of our daughter. She is introverted, does not party, and has always been serious about her studies. With a scholarship, she attended a top university and graduated with excellent results.

However, in the four years since graduation, she has not been able to build a stable career and has moved from job to job. Her situation worries me, especially as she has now been unemployed for four months.

She recently won a 50% scholarship to study for a master’s degree in the U.S., but the remaining cost is still almost VND1.5 billion. That is why I have not agreed to let her go, and the issue has caused great stress for my wife and me.

We run a small restaurant that earns enough to cover daily living costs, but we still have VND500 million in debt. I also own another house worth around VND4-5 billion, which is currently vacant because I have not found a suitable tenant.

I would appreciate advice on whether we should sell the house now to pay for our daughter’s overseas studies.
