Nam A Bank reports 25% increase in first-half pre-tax profit

According to the bank’s semi-annual financial report, total assets reached approximately VND452 trillion, up 8% from the end of 2025. Outstanding loans totaled nearly VND220 trillion, an increase of more than 10%, while total customer deposits and other mobilized funds, including issued valuable papers, rose 16% to VND245 trillion.

Nam A Bank’s total operating income reached VND5.143 trillion, an increase of more than 3% from the same period last year. Non-interest income grew 11.3%, supported by recoveries of previously written-off loans and investment activities in the capital market. Income from investment securities trading reached nearly VND178 billion, up more than 69%.

The bank also reported improvements in asset quality. Its NPL ratio fell from 2.16% at the end of 2025 to 1.47%, while the ratio of Group 2 loans declined from 1.31% to 0.54%. The NPL coverage ratio increased to nearly 70%, compared with 54% at the end of last year. According to the bank, the improvement reflects efforts to recover and resolve non-performing loans, strengthening both asset quality and provisioning capacity.

During the period, Nam A Bank said it continued to manage operating costs while investing in digital transformation, expanding operations, and enhancing service quality. Its cost-to-income ratio (CIR) remained at 40%.

The bank also reported that key prudential indicators remained above regulatory requirements set by the State Bank of Vietnam. The ratio of short-term funds used for medium- and long-term lending stood at 22%, below the regulatory cap of 40%. The liquidity reserve ratio reached nearly 20%, about twice the minimum requirement, while the 30-day VND liquidity ratio was 85%, exceeding the required 50%. Its capital adequacy ratio (CAR) reached 10.8%, above the minimum requirement of 8%.

A bank representative said these results provide a foundation for achieving the bank’s business targets for 2026.

In the first half of the year, Nam A Bank completed a public bond issuance worth VND2 trillion to strengthen its medium- and long-term funding base and increase Tier 2 capital. The bank also completed a 20% stock dividend distribution and issued 100 million shares under its 2026 Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).

As a result, its charter capital is expected to increase to more than VND21.588 trillion. In the second half of the year, the bank plans to privately issue an additional 100 million shares to professional investors, with the aim of raising charter capital to approximately VND25 trillion.

The newly issued shares will be subject to a 12-month transfer restriction. According to the bank, the capital increase is intended to strengthen its capital management framework, enhance risk management capabilities, and support implementation of the State Bank of Vietnam’s Circular No. 14/2025/TT-NHNN on Basel III standards.

Alongside its capital expansion, Nam A Bank continued to broaden its cooperation with international financial institutions. During the first six months of the year, it mobilized more than $300 million from partners including IFC, ADB, J.P. Morgan, Proparco, responsAbility, BlueOrchard, and Symbiotics to diversify funding sources and expand its trade finance capacity.

The bank also said it maintained positive assessments from international credit rating agencies in 2026. Fitch Ratings affirmed its long-term issuer default rating at A- with a stable outlook, while Moody’s Ratings upgraded the bank’s outlook from Stable to Positive.
