Work Paused on Paama Sports Complex for Months

Construction work on the multi-purpose sports complex in Liro, Paama, has been on hold for four to five months.

Paama Area Administrator, Cyrus Willie, told VBTC News that there has not been proper consultation on the project.

Mr. Willie said they want the project to be completed within this year.

“This project has stopped for about three to four months now, and it’s been going on for around two years. The project is under the Ministry of Youth and Sports, but not even 80 percent has been completed — almost nothing has been done; it looks like it has just started.”

The project is being carried out by a local contractor, and Mr. Willie has called on the government to investigate why the work has stalled.

“I’m happy to talk about it, but I want to see progress for the children of today — there are six primary schools, two secondary schools, and kindergartens in Paama. The principals and chiefs are all asking when the project will be finished. They’ve asked me to follow up with those responsible and find out why the work has stopped and when it will be completed.”

VBTC News understands that authorities are aware of the incomplete project, but so far there has been no clear response regarding its delay.
