Vanuatu Youth Rugby League Makes Historic Debut Against NSW Indigenous U16 Team

Vanuatu Rugby League Youth Development Team played its first-ever match this week against the New South Wales Indigenous Under-16 team from Australia

Rugby is one of the most popular sports in the country, with many people enjoying watching it.

This week, Vanuatu Rugby League hosted the Indigenous Australian team for a two-day tournament at Amical Field in Port Vila. This marked a historic moment for the Vanuatu youth development team as they faced an overseas team for the first time.

VBTC Sports spoke with Vanuatu Rugby League Vice President David Lolo, who said that exchange programs like this are valuable for developing the sport at different levels in the country.

During the match, many people came to watch, including families and parents who traveled with the players, while others traveled separately to attend on time.

Lolo commented on the match, saying the boys were excited and looked forward to the experience.

The first game of the week was challenging, as Vanuatu faced a strong international opponent. Vanuatu lost 48-0 to the NSW Indigenous U16 team, but the score reflected the effort, discipline, and team spirit of the young squad, who learned valuable lessons to build on for the future.
