Vanuatu Hockey Federation’s “Hook in 4 Health” outreach program is running across schools in Efate, teaching children not only how to play with a bat and ball, but also important life lessons about respect at home and in the community, understanding disability, and being humble.
A main focus of the program is health education.
“Our outreach is in Efate and North Efate where we run our programs. Inside the schools, we talk about healthy lifestyle, communication, how to become a leader, and help participants know that every person is the same both people with disabilities and those without,” a program representative explained.
The program also includes reproductive health awareness and guidance about growing up, with the aim of preparing young people for the future.
