Retired Santo Health Workers to Receive Outstanding Severance Payments

Retired health workers in Santo who have been waiting for their outstanding severance pay from the government are expected to receive their payments in the coming days.

In an interview with Acting Director General of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Santus Wari, he confirmed that the outstanding severance payments for retired health workers who served in health institutions and retired last year should be paid soon.

“We got the list and the money is ready, so in the upcoming days you will receive your money, and finance has approved the payment,” said Dr. Santus Wari, Acting DG, MoH.

Dr. Wari said the relevant authorities are already working to finalize the payments for these retired civil servants.

“Finance has given the list to me so they will process the payments and will pay properly next week payday,” he said.

Samuel Saksak, a retired health worker speaking on behalf of the group, told VBTC News that 14 staff from the Northern Provincial Hospital received their retirement letters last year in 2025, but up to now none have received their severance pay.

Saksak also said that he and the other 13 retired health workers in Santo will meet again with health authorities on Friday 20 March 2026 to ensure their concerns are addressed.
