The Malasitabu Presbyterian Church in Freswota is celebrating its 25-year Silver Jubilee yesterday.
The celebration began with a parade led by the Vanuatu Mobile Force (VMF) band, featuring church members, students, and pastors from Malasitabu. The event marks 25 years since the church was first established in Freswota.
In an interview, former clerk of the Malasitabu Presbyterian Session, Charles Maniel, expressed his joy on this milestone. “I want to thank God that we have a school and a church that serve the nation, to guide lost souls and show the kingdom of God,” he said.
Maniel explained that the opening parade started at the home of one of the late church elders as a mark of respect.
VBTC News understands that some medal presentations were expected yesterday, but did not take place. “The President usually awards medals to senior members, but unfortunately he could not attend. It will happen on another day to officially mark the Silver Jubilee celebration,” Maniel said.
He concluded by saying that the church will continue to stand strong together, ensuring it can guide and protect the community’s spiritual needs.
