25 SE Santo Trainees Graduate in Building Construction Program

Twenty-five local trainees from Southeast Santo have successfully completed Certificates 1 and 2 in the Building Construction program under the Vanuatu Institute of Technology (VIT).

The institution described this achievement as an important milestone in developing skilled professionals in Southeast Santo. The program aims to lift the quality of the local workforce and empower individuals to participate in building projects across the region.

The Construction program is part of VIT’s broader goal to extend training and education to islands nationwide, ensuring that rural communities gain access to skills development. Through this initiative, VIT supports decentralised training, allowing more locals to acquire vocational skills and contribute to their communities.

With their newly acquired skills, the 25 graduates are now equipped to support community infrastructure projects and stimulate local economic growth. As part of the program, each graduate received a tablet loaded with course materials, resources, and assessment tools—helping them engage with digital learning anytime, anywhere.

This achievement coincides with the opening of the Southeast Santo Area Council house, demonstrating successful collaboration between government, community, and private sectors in developing local infrastructure.

VIT implemented this program in collaboration with the Sanma Skills Centre and Vanuatu Skills Partnership to ensure quality delivery and impact across Santo.
