153 Homes & Bungalows Ready for Public Service Day in Motalava

With only a few weeks remaining before the opening of the 2026 Public Service Day in Torba Province, accommodation preparations in Motalava are progressing well, with more than 150 homes and bungalows now ready to host participants.

The event is scheduled to officially open on 29 September, and organisers say preparations are moving ahead at full pace to ensure visitors are comfortably accommodated.

Accommodation Team Leader Kevineth Garae told VBTC News that Motalava currently has 12 registered tourism bungalows and 141 home stays available for guests.

“We only have 12 registered tourism accommodation businesses in Motalava and Rah. On the home stay side, we have identified around 141 homes that are willing to host guests during the event.”

Mr Garae said additional homes are also available should the number of participants increase.

VBTC News also spoke with bungalow operator Alphonse Yemen, who said his guest house is ready to welcome visitors despite only a few weeks remaining before the event.

“I expect to host around six guests. We are continuing our preparations, and everything should be completed before the event begins.”

Manager of Motalava Gateway Lodge, Jeaneth Woleg, said preparations are progressing smoothly and the team is looking forward to welcoming participants to the island.

Home stay operators are also making final preparations to meet tourism accommodation standards before the event.

Many operators said hosting national leaders and visitors is not new to them, and they are confident they can provide quality accommodation throughout Public Service Day.

Mr Garae added that if accommodation in Motalava reaches capacity, tourism operators in the provincial headquarters will be available to assist.

Current accommodation figures include:

  • 141 home stays providing 354 rooms and 542 beds.
  • 12 registered bungalows providing 60 rooms and 108 beds.
