Wrestler Khalmakhanov Secures Gold Medal for Uzbekistan at U20 World Championship
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The U20 World Wrestling Championship is drawing to a close in Samokov, Bulgaria. Today brought another triumph for the Uzbek team: Greco-Roman wrestler Aytjan Khalmakhanov claimed the gold medal.
Competing in the 63 kg weight category, Khalmakhanov defeated opponents from Japan, a neutral-status Russian athlete, and Kazakhstan during the preliminary rounds.
In the final match, he convincingly overcame his Armenian rival with a score of 12-2.
