Germany Expresses Gratitude to Uzbekistan for Assisting in Evacuation of Citizens from Afghanistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Germany has expressed its gratitude to Uzbekistan for assisting in the urgent evacuation of European citizens from Afghanistan, the Dunyo news agency reports, citing an official statement from the German Embassy.

It was noted that Uzbekistan allowed Germany to use Tashkent airport for the temporary accommodation of evacuees, their transportation to a safe location, and subsequent transfer to Germany.

The diplomatic mission emphasized that the operation “would not have been possible without cooperation with Uzbekistan.”

“We are deeply grateful to the Government of Uzbekistan and all competent authorities for ensuring the prompt and coordinated execution of this task,” the statement reads.

Earlier reports indicated that a ban had been introduced in Afghanistan preventing women from working without a male companion, in some cases requiring his presence in the office throughout the entire workday.
