First Aircraft Tests New Runway at Arnasay Airfield on Aydarkul

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A new airfield, Arnasay, has been opened in Jizzakh Region and is set to become a key transport hub for a planned resort complex.

The runway was tested for the first time by a CASA C295W military transport aircraft, marking the beginning of the airfield’s operation.

The airfield is located on the shores of Aydarkul, a lake that formed in the mid-20th century and has since developed into a unique ecosystem. Today, the area attracts tourists and nature enthusiasts, as well as those fond of fishing and outdoor recreation.

The facility is designed to accommodate regional aircraft such as the L-410 and ATR-72.

Its infrastructure includes a 1.7-kilometer-long, 30-meter-wide runway, a taxiway, two parking stands for ATR and L-410 aircraft, and a passenger terminal.
