CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WOWK) – High school football is going into its eighth week of the 2025 season with games happening all over Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia Friday night.
Starting in West Virginia, it was our game of the week. The defending champion Bridgeport Indians made their first ever trip to Wayne County to battle the Spring Valley Timberwolves. Bridgeport doing what they wanted offensively as the direct snap goes to Landen Gillum, and he gets a big gain into Timberwolves’ territory. Next play, Gavin Williams will take the direct snap, and he will follow his blockers down the right sideline and to the endzone. All Bridgeport in this one. The Indians get it done, 48-14, over Spring Valley.
Down in Oak Hill, the Capital Cougars looking to bounce back taking on the Red Devils. The Cougars go in front, it’s Fernando Valdivia taking it himself into the endzone to put Capital up 12-7. Capital would bounce back after the loss to Huntington last week, going on the road and beating Oak Hill, 27-7.
Out at Bob Sang Stadium, the Huntington Highlanders hosting the Parkersburg Big Reds. Highlanders on the board first during the second quarter. They hand it on the counter to Antonio Paschall from two yards out and he’s in the endzone. Huntington’s offense would come alive in the second half, and they win it 35-3 over Parkersburg.
Elsewhere, it’s Parkersburg South at Hurricane. Parkersburg’s Kinzyn Lutchmansingh passes to Taj Joyce over 60 yards for a touchdown. Later on, Hurricane’s Isaiah Kutscher passes the ball to Riley Armstrong, who scores the Redskins their first touchdown of the game. Parkersburg South takes down Hurricane on the road, 49-21.
Next to Ripley, where the Vikings are looking to bounce back from a string of losses taking on the Winfield Generals. Generals up 7 early on when Vikings, deep in their own territory, have Jackson Moore hit Kyler Fisher. He’s all alone rushing down the sideline, but Tyler Laughery runs him down and forces the fumble. Winfield Generals dominate the Ripley Vikings, 58-21.
South Charleston taking on St. Albans. In the second quarter, the Red Dragons down 21-0. South Charleston with the ball as Ceno Riley drops back and finds Devin Lazo, who takes it all the way to the house. South Charleston was too much for the Red Dragons as the Black Eagles win 62-15.
The Hillbillies of Man go to Chapmanville to take on the undefeated Tigers. Second play of the first drive for the Tigers when the handoff goes to Senior Jeremy Collins, putting the moves on to some Man defenders and going all the way home. A decisive win for Chapmanville as they crush the Hillbillies, 55-0.
Over to Logan County where the undefeated Wildcats host the Scott Skyhawks. Before the cameras are even set up, Logan’s Luvante Keeney takes it to the house on the opening kickoff. Logan will remain undefeated against Scott, 35-0.
We’ll head over to Putnam County as the Poca Dots welcome the Williamstown Yellow Jackets. First play has Dots Quarter Back Kam McBride handing off to Spencer Jones up the middle, getting it through. Williamstown is going to beat Poca, 39-19.
Up in Ellenboro, the Wahama White Falcons hope to stay undefeated against the Ritchie County Rebels. Falcon’s Isaiah Poole takes the pitch and after a short gain, Treyvon Bearhs with the perfect form tackle. Quarter Back Trace Simpkins fires to an open Robert Roush for the touchdown. Wahama gets to 7-0 on the season, as they take down Ritchie County on the road 53-8.
Homecoming night for the Flying Eagles of Woodrow Wilson, and the Riverside Warriors are in town. Woodrow with the ball, but the snap is too high. Riverside is all over the fumble and takes over. Quarter Back Bradden Tatum slings it to Jase Cook for the touchdown. Woodrow Wilson would go on to beat Riverside handily, 42-18.

In Kentucky now, the Ashland Tomcats didn’t have to travel far to face off against the Boyd County Lions. In the second quarter, Tomcats have possession when Justin Hughes hands the ball off to Cameron Davis, who shows some speed along the sideline. Pushing through the defense, he ends up just short of the endzone. On the next play, Hughes hands off to Davis, finding the opening and getting into the endzone for the touchdown. Taking home the win was the Tomcats with a final score of 48-7.
Over to Raceland, who’s taking on Fairview in another Kentucky battle. Raceland kicking off to Fairview when Anthony Vendetti for the Eagles muffs the football. It’s picked up by Max Burton for the Rams. Next play, Quarter Back Jacob Waller finds Brigham Davidson over the middle for the first down just short of the goal line. Then, Waller drops back to pass again to Jonah Arnet, who takes it into the endzone for the touchdown. The Rams keep their season going strong with a 55-6 win over Fairview.

In Ohio, the Coal Grove Hornets were at home taking on South Point. After an interception, South Point Quarter Back KJ McLain passes to Elyle Patterson for the first down. Same drive, South Point hands it off to Landon Vance, who runs into the endzone. The Hornets would turn it on from there as Coal Grove gets a massive win over South Point, 44-15.
