CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WOWK) – High school football is going into its twelfth week of the 2025 season with games happening all over Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia Friday night.

Starting in West Virginia, it’s our Game of the Week. The George Washington Patriots taking on the Woodrow Wilson’s Flying Eagles. First drive for GW, Jaden Black getting the ball early and making the most of his touches. He gets to the outside for the first down. Next play, he finishes the job, jumping over a lineman and sprinting for the endzone. This one was not close at all for the Patriots. They win it, 42-0.

It was a rainy night at Riverside High School as the Warriors take on the Capital Cougars. Cougars keep the ball but no one is open. Riverside gets a sack in the rain. Capital not giving up on the passing game with an easy pass to Camdyn Harris, who takes it and gets great yardage that would lead to a touchdown. Cougars beat the Warriors, 16-8.

Now to Nitro where the Wildcats are looking to end the season on a high note against the Greenbrier East Spartans. Wildcats with the ball facing a third and very long. Eian Duffy takes the snap and dumps it off to WVU Commit Malachi Thompson. He jukes a Spartan defender and has a clear path to the endzone. Nitro would go on to win this one against the Spartans, 23 to 6.

Up to Elkview where the Herbert Hoover Huskies welcomed in the Weir Red Riders. A quick 30-yard pass to open the game for the Huskies. Peyton Grigsby again looks to the sideline and passes to Lance Williams, who’s going to make one man miss. He turns on the jets, and it’s a foot race to the endzone. Herbert Hoover will finish their season 7-2 as they beat the Red Riders, 44-14.

Winfield took on the Black Knights of Point Pleasant. Winfield starts quick down the field with the first score of the evening. Later, a touchdown by Senior Drew Mann. The Generals beat the Black Knights, 35-12.

Poca faces Sherman this week. Sherman High’s Eli Pauley passes 15 yards across the field to Chase Southern. Dawson Green breaks through the huddle, running the ball 15 yards, nearly being taken down by Poca’s Prince Brandon, but he makes it into the endzone for a touchdown. It was a muddy and gritty game in Sherman. They take down Poca, 26-8.

Tug Valley Panthers make the trip to take on the James Monroe Mavericks. Mavericks get off to a bad start, losing the ball, and it’s Panthers’ ball. Panthers would put on a show for the first score. The pass is caught, thrown back, and scored by the receiver. They go on to beat Tug Valley, 49-6.

Now in Kentucky, Ashland’s Royals face off against Mason County’s Tomcats. Ashland is 2nd and 2 when QB Tanner Stutler passes to Sam Lyons, who delivers a first down run before being taken down by Mason County. Ashland hands it off to Carter Anderson, which ends in a touchdown run. The Tomcats move on in the playoffs with a win over the Royals, 48-8.

Over to Ohio playoff football, it’s Morgan at Wheelersburg. The Morgan Raiders get the ball first. They go four and out, but Wheelersburg is able to get a drive going. Pass from Braylon Rucker to Brady Doss gets the Pirates a few yards short of the goal line before Elijah Brown slams it up the middle for a Wheelersburg touchdown. Wheelersburg moves on in the playoffs, beating Morgan 43-3.

Barnesville looks to defend their home turf in this quarterfinal matchup against the Portsmouth Trojans. Shamrocks looking to score early with an outside pitch to Running Back Trey Toliver. He jukes his way through the defense and finds his way into the endzone for the first touchdown of the game. The Shamrocks came out hot and never stopped as they run away with this one, 34-0.
