GREENWOOD, Ind. (WISH) — An investigation is underway after a serious crash took place on I-65 northbound near Greenwood early Saturday afternoon, where a woman fled from police.
According to state police, the incident began when an officer attempted to pull over 25-year-old Nicole Bryant of Indianapolis for speeding and having a false license plate on her grey Chevrolet Equinox.
Bryant refused to pull over and fled from the officer, and the officer pursued the SUV northbound on I-65 into Johnson County.
Police say Bryant then moved to the shoulder to pass traffic, struck a car, and caused a chain-reaction crash involving four vehicles.
An adult female in one of the vehicles was taken to the hospital in critical condition, and five other people were taken to the hospital for “various non-life-threatening injuries.”
Bryant was taken into custody and later taken to the hospital, but did not have any life-threatening injuries.
