Woman arrested for car dealership break-in: Westlake Police Blotter

WESTLAKE, Ohio –

Breaking and entering: Sperry Drive

Westlake police arrested a woman on a felony breaking and entering charge for a break-in at the Ganley BMW dealership on Sperry Drive.

Officers on Sept. 19 responded to an alarm at the dealership, where they discovered glass broken out of a door on the east side of the building. Officers from North Olmsted and Bay Village assisted Westlake officers in searching around the business for a suspect, including using drones.

Officers discovered surveillance video that showed a suspect wandering around the parking lot between 2:30 and 3 a.m. The person entered unlocked vehicles in the lot and used a long object to break out the window of the building.

The person on the video matched the description of a long-time resident of a nearby hotel. She had a history of theft arrests by Westlake police, according to a department statement.

On Sept. 23, detectives confronted the suspect with video showing her wandering from the hotel to the dealership on the night of the incident. She eventually admitted to going out to attempt to steal, according to a police statement.

Officers arrested the woman on a felony breaking and entering charge. They took her three dogs into protective custody for safekeeping at the Westake Kennel.

Drug possession: I-90

At 1 p.m. on Sept. 23, officers stopped a vehicle on I-90 westbound near Crocker Road for a license plate violation.

The male driver had a suspended license, and the vehicle had an expired temporary tag that was not visible from the back of the car. In addition, he had warrants for his arrest, one was a felony warrant through Portage County.

Investigation revealed the driver possessed a burned glass pipe and a small amount of crack cocaine, according to a police department statement.

The vehicle was towed from the highway, and the driver was arrested and charged with felony possession, driving under suspension, possession of drug paraphernalia, and expired plates.

Indecent exposure: Detroit Road

Officers at 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 26 were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 27000 block of Detroit Road for an indecent exposure complaint.

The female complainant reported that when she left for work that morning, a man exited his apartment completely nude. Another neighbor said that she had also witnessed this and added that the man had been “doing this for the last two weeks.”
