An 82-year-old woman is in critical condition after she was run over by a car in Manoa this morning, according to first responders.
Honolulu police said the driver, a 59-year-old man, was heading westbound on Dole Street and turning onto Alexander Street at about 10:09 a.m., when he struck the woman in a marked crosswalk.
The Honolulu Fire Department responded to the scene, and found the woman trapped beneath a large, black SUV at the marked crosswalk near Maryknoll School.
Firefighters used special tools, including pneumatic lifting bladders, to lift the SUV off the woman and extricated her.
Paramedics gave her advanced life support and rushed her to an emergency room in critical condition. The woman’s identity was not immediately released.
The driver and his passenger, a 31-year-old man, were not injured and remained at the scene.

Police said speed, alcohol and drugs do not appear to be contributing factors to the collision at this time. An investigation is ongoing.
