NDIANAPOLIS (WISH-TV) – Very windy today with gusts around 40 to 50 miles per hour. A warmer weekend on tap but showers and thunderstorms possible for the end of the weekend. Those thunderstorms could be on the stronger side.
TODAY: A wind advisory is in place for central Indiana through the afternoon and evening hours and a high wind warning in effect for areas north and east of Indianapolis. Winds may gust at times today around 50 mph in the advisory and up to 60 mph in the warning. Driving a high-profile vehicle on those north-south roads may be a bit difficult today. We will see temperatures today climb to about 57°. We will start off with cloudy conditions this morning, even a few spotty showers north of Indianapolis. Some sunshine is expected later this afternoon.
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy conditions later tonight. The winds do begin to drop a little bit. We will see breezy conditions continue into the overnight hours with temperatures falling near freezing.
TOMORROW: The first part of the weekend we will see temperatures right around normal for this time of year. Look for highs near 50. Cloud cover will stick around through a majority of the day. The winds will not be as bad as they were on Friday.
7 DAY EXTENDED FORECAST: On Sunday we’ll look for very windy conditions. It will be very warm with temperatures climbing almost near 70°. It will be very windy with a partly to mostly cloudy sky. A cold front moves through Sunday evening could see some strong to severe thunderstorms on Sunday. Much of Western Indiana is under a level 3 out of a level 5 of strongest severe thunderstorms.
Much colder on Monday. We could see a few snow showers with temperatures right around freezing for highs. On Tuesday we’ll look for temperatures to be into the teens on your Tuesday morning with wind chill values or feels like temperatures near zero.
