Thunderstorms stretched from near Chaves County north to De Baca County on Saturday evening and moved east.
Storms should keep moving east and weaken overnight, while the rest of New Mexico stays dry.
Smoke from wildfires could return to the air Sunday, especially across the northern half of the state.
Sunday will bring another fairly hot day with dry conditions early and skies ranging from sunny to partly cloudy.
A few showers and storms could develop across the state Sunday afternoon, including a possible storm or shower near the Albuquerque metro area, but most storms should stay farther south and east.
A few storms in eastern New Mexico may bring damaging wind gusts.
