“Lioness” is back tonight for another chapter in what has become the show’s most personal mission yet. “Lioness” season 3, episode 3, titled “The Bear Is Infected,” airs Sunday, Aug. 16, at 12 a.m. Eastern.

What happened last week in episode 2 (spoiler alert)?
Lioness season 3, episode 2, “No Sorrow Like the Survivor,” deals with the aftermath of the premiere. While Joe McNamara reeled from the attack on her home, the CIA launched an investigation to determine how Russian operatives were able to target one of their most valuable officers.
Joe also realized how her covert life put Neal and her daughters directly in danger. By the end of the hour, the CIA questions Joe’s future in the field, and it becomes clear that the battle against Russian intelligence has become deeply personal.
What’s in store on episode 3?
Episode 3 will most likely focus on the hunt for whoever exposed Joe’s location and allowed Russian-linked operatives to target her family. The CIA has already concluded that the attack was far too sophisticated to be random, and Joe herself increasingly suspects that the operation traces back to the intelligence network connected to Aleksi Yurimov and the Ukraine mission. Expect Kaitlyn, Byron and the Lioness team to intensify their investigation as evidence points toward a larger espionage operation already operating inside the United States.
The episode’s biggest development may involve Joe’s personal reckoning. Episode 3 is likely to push Joe into a difficult choice between protecting her family and pursuing the people responsible for the attacks.
