History’s popular survival competition series, “Alone,” sends 10 contestants into the wilderness, armed with only a limited set of supplies and equipment to self-document their experience. The aim of the game is to last the longest, enduring harsh conditions, predators, scarce resources, and complete isolation in hopes of walking away with $500,000.

“Alone” returns with a franchise first, “Alone: World Championship.” The new competition features 10 survivalists from across the globe, “raising the stakes like never before,” says the History synopsis. This year, participants are placed in Canada’s Arctic Circle with a mere 10 tools at their disposal, not including camera gear. The player who manages to outlast the others will be crowned the show’s inaugural world champion.
