After a chaotic scene in qualifying that involved a crash from Max Verstappen, George Russell claimed the coveted Austrian Grand Prix pole.
The Dutchmen looked to be headed for a strong position in Q3 until he lost the rear of his car on entry into the ninth turn. He skidded off through the gravel and bashed into the barrier. It was determined to be a defect from a loss of aero performance in the rear.
