West Fargo Gives Eagles 2 More AA Legion Losses

JAMESTOWN – West Fargo gave Jamestown Eagles Legion Baseball a second doubleheader sweep in as many days Wednesday, taking wins of 6-5 and 18-1 at Jack Brown Stadium.  Jamestown has now lost 10 of their last 11 league games.

Game 1: West Fargo 6, Jamestown 5
Jake Dangerud homered for West Fargo (20-8, 5-2 AA Legion). Landon Zink, Cooper Fuchs and Austin Ohleen also drove in runs for the Patriots.

Jamestown (9-13, 3-10) trailed 6-2 going into the bottom of the seventh before a rally that fell just short. With two out, Haden Smith walked with the bases loaded and Colton Gerlach knocked in two with a single and the Eagles were down only a run. With the tying run on third base and the winning run on first, Ethan Oettle hit a fly out to end the game.

Starter Jaxon Kolpin gave up five runs and eight hits in four and two-thirds innings.

Game 2: West Fargo 18, Jamestown 1 (5)
West Fargo (21-8, 6-2) started fast with five runs in the first inning, Fuchs hit a two-run single and Brody Strahm slammed a three-run homer. The Patriots then scored four runs in the second, another in the third and eight in the fifth.

Ohleen homered and drove in three. Strahm drove in four runs.

Bennett Goehner drove in the only run for the Eagles (9-14, 3-11) with a double in the third inning.

Jamestown will host Gillette (WY) in a doubleheader on Wednesday, July 8 at 5:30 PM at Jack Brown Stadium.
