Weather alert issued for 6 Michigan counties until Sunday evening

At 3:26 p.m. EDT on Sunday, the National Weather Service released a special weather statement until 8 p.m. EDT for Alcona, Roscommon, Ogemaw, Iosco, Gladwin and Arenac counties.

“A band of mixed snow, sleet, and freezing rain will continue to spread northeast across the area this afternoon. While both snow and ice amounts will remain minimal, a glaze of ice and snow is expected to develop on roads this afternoon, especially those secondary and untreated road surfaces. Temperatures are expected to rise to a few degrees above freezing by early this evening, ending the snow and freezing rain threat. Motorists are urged to slow down and use extra caution this afternoon,” comments the weather service.
