GARNER, N.C. (WNCN) — Two new Wawa stores are set to open on consecutive days in North Carolina this week — including the first for Johnston County, officials said.
There’s been a lot of anticipation for the North Carolina expansion of the Pennsylvania-based gas station and convenience stores.
By the end of this week, Wawa will have 12 stores in North Carolina — with a Pitt County location opening in Greenville on Wednesday, just a day before the opening of the Garner store in Johnston County.
The new Garner Wawa is set for 55 Masonboro Drive, just off Interstate 40 at N.C. 42.

In Greenville, the city’s third Wawa store is set to open Thursday at 1300 Parkside Drive.
Festivities for both new stores start at 7:45 a.m. with t-shirts for the first 100 customers when doors officially open at 8 a.m. Free coffee will also be offered with ribbon cuttings set for 8:30 a.m. at each store.
Greenville will have the East Carolina University cheer team on hand for the opening party.
Wawa officials said they plan to have 17 stores in the Tar Heel state by the end of 2025.
Company officials say that at least $7.5 million is spent to open each store with an average of 35 workers in each location.
