AIKEN — A Wagener man has been arrested for attempted murder in Aiken County.

On May 17 around 4 p.m. officers from the Burnettown Police Department arrived at the scene of an active fight with one man holding another man down on the ground at Montmorenci Road and West Road in Aiken County.

Deputies from Aiken County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene to assist in separating the two parties.

Police reports say that a motorcycle was observed on its side in the roadway with a blue Ford Ranger parked beside it.

One man involved in the incident was discovered to have a bullet entrance wound in his back.

The gunshot victim told law enforcement that while riding his motorcycle, he and the driver of the blue truck had an altercation on the roadway.

According to the victim, they were both driving when the truck driver allegedly swerved nearly hitting the motorcyclist, leading the motorcyclist to make an obscene gesture at the truck driver.

After this, the truck driver who was identified as Jason Walker, 44, of Wagener, followed the motorcyclist victim to his home on Montmorenci Road.

The victim claimed that once they made it to the area of his home, that Walker attempted to hit him while he was still on the motorcycle. He additionally claimed that he was pulled off his bike, hit multiple times and shot at.

According to warrants, Walker has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He is currently booked at the Aiken County detention center.
