MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont agrees to roll back a law meant to stop so-called crisis pregnancy centers from misleading advertising.
It was enacted in 2023 after the state claimed these facilities, which offer health care advice, ultrasounds, and pregnancy testing, were pro-life centers providing false information about abortion.
The law then prohibited such centers from advertising their services.
The state was sued over the restrictions, and as part of a deal to dismiss it, the state agreed to amend the language of the law to eliminate its targeting of pregnancy centers.
