Vermont Christian school says state education law is unfair

MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – A Vermont Christian school plans to challenge the state’s sweeping education overhaul, saying it excludes religious schools from public funding.

Mid Vermont Christian in Quechee says the state’s new education reform law excludes them from town tuition funding and other public benefits.

They want to argue the case in front of a judge.

This comes as the school previously sued the state after it was banned from high school sports by the Vermont Principals’ Association. It happened after the school refused to compete in a basketball game against a team with a transgender student.

A judge ruled earlier this year that while that case is ongoing, they can compete in sports.
