A vehicle hit and killed a pedestrian on the Seward Highway in Fairview early Tuesday morning, police said.
Police were called to East 20th Avenue and Ingra Street at about 6 a.m. after a female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle, the Anchorage Police Department said in a statement. The woman died at the scene, officials said.
The driver of the vehicle was cooperating with the investigation, according to police.
The northbound lanes of the Seward Highway, from Fireweed Boulevard to 15th Avenue, and East 20th Avenue from Juneau Street to Ingra Street were closed while police investigated the collision, the department said.
Police provided few other details about the incident and officials didn’t immediately respond to requests for additional details.
