Vance visits North Platte, announces $1.3 billion investment

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KLKN) — On Oct. 22, Vice President JD Vance visited North Platte to speak at a midterm rally.

One of the biggest things Vance announced was an investment into Nebraska’s economy.

“I am proud to announce $1.3 billion of investment in domestic fertilizer manufacturing, right here, in the State of Nebraska,” Vance said.

One of the two companies receiving the investment is TalusAg, a Texas-based agriculture and energy infrastructure company. TalusAg is opening two manufacturing facilities in Nebraska.

At one point, Vance stopped his remarks after a person in the crowd suffered a medical emergency. Vance walked into the crowd to oversee the medical attention administered.

Vance emphasized his prayers was with the attendee and gave his thanks to the medical personnel.

Before Vance took the stage, local government officials and candidates in the midterm election spoke on his visit.

Representative Adrian Smith said the Republican government is what families have needed.

“One of the policies of President Trump, Vice President Vance and Republican Congress have delivered is relief for families,” Smith said. “When you look at the working families’ tax cuts, Trump accounts, school choice and all of these different components. This is what families have wanted for a long time, what they’ve needed.”

Democrat candidate for Nebraska Governor Lynne Walz said Vance’s visit is to fight against her campaign.

“Today, the Vice President is coming to North Platte and I want you to hear this directly from me. I don’t care whether you’re a Republican or Democrat. Whether you voted for Trump or not. I care about getting things done for the people of this state,” Walz said. “Some of my best work in the legislature came from working with Republicans. Today, Republicans I served with are crossing party lines to bat me.”
