VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Valley City Community Band would like to invite the community to attend their spring concert for the 2025-2026 season. This concert will be at 7 PM on Thursday March 19, 2026 and will be in the Performance Hall at the Larry J. Robinson Center for the Fine Arts located on the campus of Valley City State University. Attendance is free.
The theme of this concert is Starts and Space and features music by Holst, Sweeney, Sheldon and Vadsten, & Touch the Sky; from the 2012 Disney-Pixar movie Brave (composed by Mandel and Andrews) and selections from Star Wars composed by John Williams. Band member Larry Herzog will perform “Song for Frances”, a piece for euphonium and band.
The concert will start with a piece called “March to the Stars”, composed by Myron Sommerfeld, a local musician and band leader of the well known band Myron Sommerfeld and his music who has performed in North Dakota and beyond for over 50 years.
The Valley City Community Band (VCCB) is under the direction of Rochelle Jimenez and is open to band performers of all ages and skill levels. Rehearsals for this group are on Thursday evenings in the band room in the CFA Building. Jimenez was instrumental in starting the group now in its 4 years and is always willing to work with new members.
