A fast-fashion clothing brand by Charlotte Russe’s parent company is coming to the Mall of Louisiana.
Urban Planet by Charlotte Russe, which sells trendy young men’s and women’s clothing at low prices, will open its first Louisiana location in Baton Rouge. The two-floor store next to Macy’s will have a grand opening on April 17.
Urban Planet by Charlotte Russe is a partnership between the two clothing brands, both owned by Toronto-based clothing company YM Inc., offering similar items in separate collections. The store will have frequent product drops to keep up with the latest fashion trends, and sells items for $30 or less.
“Our goal is to provide customers with the latest styles, fast-moving trends, and everyday essentials that allow them to express their personal style without breaking their budget,” district manager Carlos De Jesus said in an email.
De Jesus said the store’s offerings will be inspired by social media, global and streetwear trends and offer a range of items from basics to activewear to statement pieces.
Fashion retailer Charlotte Russe became a staple for malls nationwide as a clothing and accessories store for young women before shuttering in 2019 due to financial difficulties, closing all stores including one in the Mall of Louisiana. YM Inc., which also owns Rue 21 and the Canadian division of Forever 21, acquired Charlotte Russe that year with plans to revive the brand.
Urban Planet has more than a dozen stores located in malls and shopping centers in the United States and more than 100 locations in Canada.
Despite the shift toward online shopping, fast-fashion stores have continued to have a strong presence in the Mall of Louisiana. Mango and Zara have opened stores in the shopping center since 2024, joining tenants such as H & M, Express and American Eagle.
