The UNLV Rebels will look to build off their first win of the season when they travel to Denton, Texas, to face the North Texas Mean Green in Week 2 of the college football season.
The Mean Green are coming off a season-opening loss to the defending national champion Indiana Hoosiers, and although the 52-16 final score suggests a wide margin, North Texas actually outgained Curt Cignetti’s squad and only trailed by nine points during the third quarter.
The Rebels have played the Mean Green six times in school history and hold a 5-1 record against the program. The teams last faced off in 2022 at Allegiant Stadium, where UNLV claimed a 58-27 win. The Rebels are 1-1 all time on the road against North Texas.

UNLV will receive the football first, giving the Rebels an early opportunity to establish their offense as they search for their second consecutive road win.
Defensive Improvements
The Rebels’ defense has been a talking point dating back to the beginning of the Dan Mullen era at UNLV. Through two games of the 2026 season, the defense has held up, but defensive coordinator Paul Guenther is still looking for improvements following the program’s 21-6 win over Hawaii.
