SIOUX FALLS, SD – A day after being swept at Southwest Minnesota State, Jamestown Jimmies Women’s Volleyball responded well Saturday, sweeping Sioux Falls 25-19, 25-14, 25-21 at the Stewart Center.
After the first set was even at 6-6, Gracie Adamson served two aces and had a kill and Kyleigh Schopp also had a kill in a 5-0 run. Later in the set, Adamson had another kill and another aces and Kallyn Grove smashed two kills as Jamestown grabbed a one-set lead.
Set two wasn’t ever in serious doubt for Jamestown (14-5, 7-4 NSIC). Kate Wiebesiek had a kill, an ace and three assists as Jamestown led 8-3. USF (6-13, 2-9) came within 14-10, but Jamestown scored nine of the next 10 points. Grove had a kill for a 24th point and Caroline Puetz killed for the 25th.
Sioux Falls was up 12-11 in the third set before Momo Minamiya served three aces in a 5-0 run that put the Jimmies up 16-12. After the Cougars cut the lead to 20-18, Puetz killed on match point.
Grove (.467) and Adamson had nine kills each. Adamson also served a career high five aces. Charlotte Lempke scored four blocks. Sophie Ketterling had nine digs. Wiebesiek had 19 set assists.
The Jimmies, currently seventh in the NSIC, will host Minnesota State on Friday at 6:00 PM at Harold Newman Arena.
