JAMESTOWN – Jamestown Jimmies Men’s Basketball recorded arguably its biggest win so far in the NSIC, stunning Minnesota Duluth 71-70 Saturday at Harold Newman Arena. UMD then routed the Jimmie women 82-36.
Men: Jamestown 71, Minnesota Duluth 70
Ford Okehi drew a foul on a drive to the rim with :0.1 left, then hit two free throws to win the game. Okehi was fouled by Jackson Fowlkes, 41 seconds after he had hit two free throws to bring Jamestown (5-6, 3-2 NSIC) to within 70-69. Fowlkes missed a jumper with 14 seconds to go to set up what proved to be the winning play.
Minnesota Duluth (7-4, 3-2) came back from a 14-point deficit to take leads in the second half, led by Noah Paulson, who scored a career-high 28 points with seven rebounds.
Anthony Walters scored a season-high 27 points with five three-pointers and five rebounds for Jamestown. Owen Hektner scored 11. Okehi scored six points with five assists.
Women: Minnesota Duluth 82, Jamestown 36
Minnesota Duluth (7-2, 5-0 NSIC) dominated the game from start to finish, holding Jamestown (4-5, 2-3) to nine points or fewer in each of the first three quarters. The Bulldogs led by as many as 54 points.
UMD shot 53 percent from the floor and forced 20 turnovers by the Jimmies. Lexi Karge led with 16 points for the Bulldogs, for whom 12 different players scored.
Daviney Dreckman scored nine for UJ, who shot a season-low 26 percent on field goals.
