Tunbridge school art classroom fire ruled accidental

TUNBRIDGE — Firefighters from Tunbridge and Chelsea quickly extinguished a “small fire” in an art classroom at Tunbridge Central School at about 9:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Vermont State Police said in a news release Wednesday afternoon.

The Vermont Department of Public Safety Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit and firefighters investigated the fire on Wednesday. They determined it was accidental and had been caused by the placement of combustible materials too close to a pottery kiln.

First Branch Ambulance treated one person at the scene for a minor injury, police said.
