Triple digit heat index values expected in Missouri this weekend

(Undated)  —  Very warm temperatures and triple digit heat indices are in the forecast for Missouri this weekend.  The National Weather Service says nearly all of the state is under a Heat Advisory.  The St. Louis area will be under an Extreme Heat Watch.  Heat index readings could approach 105 to 110 degrees in the St. Louis area.

The Extreme Heat watch for the St. Louis will be in effect starting at 12 pm Saturday and will continue thru Tuesday evening.

The rest of the state, with the exception of far southwest Missouri will be under a Heat Advisory today (Friday) thru 9 p.m. Sunday. Heat index values are up to 106 are expected nearly statewide.

The National Weather Service says there will be little relief overnight, with temperatures only falling into the upper 70s Saturday and Sunday morning.
