Oakes, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The Oakes Tornadoes started out strong against the Sargent County Bulldogs but couldn’t maintain their momentum as the Bulldogs got the 4 set victory (14-25, 25-15, 25-14, 26-24).
The match started with a back and forth affair till 6-6 when Oakes began to pull away. Lexi Harris would also get back-to-back-to-back aces to further put the Tornadoes ahead. They would end up taking the set 25-14.
Set 2 started the same way till 8-8 with 7 ties and 5 lead changes. Sargent County would take the lead after 8-8 and go on a 13-3 run to make it 21-11. They would take the set 25-15.
Set 3 was all Bulldogs as they jumped to a quick 6-1 lead and never looked back. The closest the Tornadoes would get was 11-7. The Bulldogs would dominate their way to a 25-14 set win.
Set 4 started out all Tornadoes as they got out to a 7-1 lead right away. They would for the most part hold onto a big lead for most of the set. The Bulldogs managed to get close at 17-16 but Oakes would again pull away and appear to be enroute to their 3rd 5 set match of the season after going on a 7-3 run. They would even have set point at 24-19. The Bulldogs however would fight back and take advantage of a few Oakes errors and pretty soon that lead vanished as the Bulldogs went to 24-24 to 25-24 and finished it 26-24, ending the match on a 7-0 run.
