Western Kentucky’s men’s golf team closed out the fall schedule with a top-10 finish at the Furman Intercollegiate on Monday in Greenville, South Carolina.

The Hilltoppers tied for eighth place with a 32-over par team score for the tournament. Two Hilltopper golfers finished in the top 10 on the individual leaderboard, with Will Easterlin claiming third place and Gage Doyle finishing in eighth.

“We did not play very well as a whole unfortunately this week,” WKU coach Austin King said in a news release. “However, I was extremely happy to see Will continue his strong play and then also see Gage bounce back well and finish off the fall on a positive note with his low round today. We’ve got plenty of work to do this off-season, looking to build on the strides that we have made this fall and we will use this week to get better.”

Easterlin shot even-par 71 in the third round to finish with a 5-under total score for the tournament. Through five tournaments in the fall, Easterlin has finished under par in four and has five top-20 finishes, four top-15 finishes and three top-10 finishes. Easterlin finished the tournament with 12 birdies.

Doyle had an impressive third round, firing a 4-under 67. He moved up 17 spots on the leaderboard and finished the tournament 1-over par. Doyle played the tournament as an individual.

WKU senior Rafe Blankenship carded a 4-over 75 in the third round to finish 11-over and tied for 45th place.
