Topgolf remains part of Everett Mall redevelopment

EVERETT — The owners of the Everett Mall confirmed Thursday that Topgolf remains part of the shopping center’s redevelopment, along with the additions of popular chains Shake Shack and Boot Barn.
In April, the mall’s owners, Brixton Capital, submitted a pre-application permit to city officials that left out a new facility for the recreational golf company as part of the mall’s redevelopment, called The Hub @ Everett.
City staff had already approved permits for Topgolf’s 68,000-square-foot, three-story building with a driving range in January 2025. At the time, Brixton Capital told The Daily Herald that the new permit filing, featuring an office building, parking, small clubhouse, pool and open space in Topgolf’s place, was just one option for the redevelopment and that Topgolf may still find a home in Everett.
On Thursday, Topgolf and Brixton Capital representatives stated that a facility is still slated for the southeast corner of the mall, according to a press release.
“We remain excited and committed to bring our high-energy, technology-enabled golf entertainment experience to The Hub @ Everett,” said Topgolf spokesperson Matt Smith in the release.
The California-based real estate investment company is also negotiating with multiple other national retailers for “the balance of the redevelopment,” the release said.
“Our Brixton team believes that creating a successful community gathering place means curating an incredible mix of retail shops, restaurants and entertainment options,” said Eric Li, Brixton Capital’s managing director of retail leasing, in the release. “But it also means helping spur job creation opportunities that support the local community.”
Currently, Brixton has secured leases for fast-casual restaurant Shake Shack and apparel retailer Boot Barn, the release said. The stores are anticipated to open in late 2028, with construction estimated to begin in November.
For Everett residents, the nearest Shake Shack is in Lynnwood, while the nearest Boot Barn is in Marysville.
Boot Barn, slated for a 20,028-square-foot storefront, will absorb part of the former At Home store’s space, the release said. Shake Shack will move into a 3,475-square-foot storefront near Old Navy.
The interior of the mall is closed for renovations. Multiple retailers, including Trader Joe’s, Ulta, Five Below and Old Navy, will remain open and continue to be part of the shopping center following redevelopment.
Redevelopment of the 52-year-old mall has been in the works for years. Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin first announced the project at her 2024 State of the City address.
“For the last few years we’ve been working closely with the team at Brixton, the owners of the Everett Mall,” she said in her speech. “We wanted to see the space re-imagined to better meet our community’s changing needs.”
The planned redevelopment will turn the previously indoor mall into an outward-facing center for retail, dining and entertainment, the release said.
“We’re honored to be giving new life to a place that has played an important part in the lives of so many nearby residents,” Li said.
