Three firefighters injured in fire in Cranston home

A fire on Central Street in Cranston.

CRANSTON, R.I.– Cranston fire officials said multiple firefighters were injured while battling a house fire on Tuesday.

The fire was reported at 6 Central St.

Smoke was seen coming from the upper story and roof.

Firefighters said all residents of the home evacuated safely.

According to officials, crews opened a second-floor door while searching for the origin of the fire, and an “explosion” occurred.

Three firefighters were injured.

Cranston fire officials said one firefighter remains in the hospital, and the other two were released.

Crews said the fire traveled quickly to the attic and the roof collapsed due to the fire.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Cranston firefighters said the fire is under control and they are working on hotspots.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Officials said the Red Cross was at the scene to assist the residents.
