The Ninth Annual Anchorage Tattoo Expo features 80 tattoo artists and piercers covering a variety of styles. Tickets are available at the door only and are $25, with discounts for tickets purchased before 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday and three-day weekend passes are available.
Dance Under the Midnight Sun

The Anchorage Classical Ballet Academy’s summer ballet intensive students perform a contemporary and modern repertoire. General admission tickets are $16 with discounts available for seniors, military and students.

Hippie Sabotage & Waka Flocka Flame

Electronic music brother duo Hippie Sabotage is joined by the legendary Atlanta rapper Waka Flocka Flame for this concert. General admission tickets are around $79.
Rick Zelinsky & Icy Grooves
7-10 p.m. Friday; O’Malley’s on the Green, 3651 O’Malley Road
Rick Zelinsky’s jazz sextet includes some of Anchorage’s best players. Free on Friday at O’Malley’s.
Arctic Thunder Open House
9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday; Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson
This event is free to the public and includes acrobatics and military demonstrations featuring the U.S. Navy Demonstration Team, the Blue Angels and the U.S. Army Parachute Team, the Golden Knights. Gates open at 9 a.m. and the event starts at 10:30 a.m. each day.

The Anchorage Farmers Market is celebrating 25 years this weekend with a special market. There will be door prizes, baked goods and treats and an on-the-hour ticket drawing.
Christopher Walden Hilltop 5K
10 a.m. Saturday; Hilltop Ski Area, 7015 Abbott Road
This run/hike is a fundraiser for The Christopher Walden House of Hope and Hilltop Ski Area. The course has 1,288 feet of elevation change over 5 kilometers and is safe for runners and hikers of all skill levels, and kids 5 and older.
Ptarmigan Ptakeover: A Full Day of Comedy
Noon-10 p.m. Saturday; The Nave, 3502 Spenard Road
Rubber Ptarmigan partners with The Nave for a full day of comedy events. Included in the festivities are standup acts, improve, a roast battle and an open mic. Tickets are $15.
Show of Hands Music Festival
3-11 p.m. Saturday; Bernie’s Bungalow Lounge, 626 D St.
This festival features eight Indigenous acts including Ashley Young, Saint Mood, The Robotz, Sazón, Red Marker Resistance, Rut, RNR and 2essentialz. Tickets are around $27.
Fia
6 p.m. Saturday; F Street and Sixth Avenue
Fia is a Samoan-Hawaiian singer/songwriter who performs in an island reggae style. A four-time Island Music Award winner, Fia’s hit “Love Me” has over 26 million Spotify streams. General admission tickets are around $50.
Japanese Summer Festival
Noon-3 p.m. Sunday; Kincaid Park Chalet, 6998 Raspberry Road
This event features vendors and authentic Japanese food. It also includes performances from Tomodachi Daiko, Bon Odori — Japanese folk dance — and Yosakoi Dance. There is also an iaido demonstration and a live sumi-e performance.
Ted Stevens Young Alaskan Artist Award Recital
7:30 p.m. Tuesday; UAA Recital Hall, 3700 Alumni Drive
Liam Dooley is a 2018 graduate of Chugiak High School and a baritone who is pursuing a Master of Music in voice and opera at McGill University. General admission tickets are $30, $25 for seniors and $15 for kids 18 and under.
