One of my favorite times of the year is when Buffalo, WY, changes its name to Durant and welcomes fans of Craig Johnson’s Longmire books, as well as actors and fans of the Longmire TV series, for Longmire Days.
The dates for 2026 were just released, and the town’s name change will happen from July 16 – 19. Even though the list of events, times, and attendees hasn’t been announced, the Lonmire Foundation likes to set the dates so those who need to arrange travel and accommodations have plenty of time to do so.
Exciting News: Event And Ticket Info Out For Longmire Days

During Longmire Days, it doesn’t feel like it’s just a bunch of random people coming to town; it feels like a huge family reunion. For a few days in the summer, people who wouldn’t ever wear western wear, cowboy hats, or cowboy boots, put on their best Longmire-like outfits and celebrate Author Craig Johnson’s incredible vision and creativity, along with Longmire characters Walt, Ruby, Vic, Ferg, Henry, Jacob, and Mathias.
If you haven’t gone to the event, you are missing out on a great weekend of hearing stories and recollections of Craig and the show’s cast who are in attendance, participating in a talent show, enjoying live music, drinking LOTS of Rainier Beer, eating breakfast at the Busy Bee, living the cowboy life on a dude ranch, and spending time in the historic Occidental Hotel.
By the time of this year’s Longmire Days, Craig will have released the next adventure for Walt and the gang. On May 26, 2026, the 22nd Longmire novel, The Brothers McKay, will be released, and give you time to get your questions together to ask him all about it.
I’m telling you, if you’re a fan of the books, the show, or the atmosphere that Durant brings, you’re going to love Longmire Days absolutely.
