JACKSON, Wyo. (KIFI)– Teton County is helping homeowners better understand wildfire risks and the challenges of finding property insurance by hosting a ‘Lunch and Learn’, in collaboration with Jackson Hole Fire/EMS and the Wyoming Insurance Department.
The event brought local experts together to explain why property insurance can be difficult to obtain in wildfire-prone areas and what homeowners can do to better protect their homes.
Presentations highlighted wildfire response efforts in communities across the country, giving attendees examples of how other areas are addressing wildfire risks and protecting properties.
“Wildfire is definitely one of our major risks to our community. And it’s not just a risk that impacts individuals. It impacts all of us who live here,” Coe said. “It’s a problem that we need to tackle as a community, as individuals.”
Coe says resources are available to help homeowners better prepare for wildfire risks. Those resources can be found HERE.
