INDIANAPOLIS — A 16-year-old girl faces an aggravated battery charge after a woman was found shot at a far east side apartment complex early Friday morning.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department reports that officers arrived at the Warren Harbor Apartments in the 2100 block of Sussex Lane just before 1:30 a.m. to investigate a person shot.

That apartment complex is just east of the intersection of East 21st Street and North Post Road.

There, police found a woman suffering a gunshot wound. She was taken to a hospital in “critical, but stable” condition.

IMPD detained the 16-year-old at the scene, later announcing her arrest just after 7 a.m.

It’s not clear what led up to the shooting or if the teen would be charged as an adult.
