Suspect dead after exchanging gunfire with a state trooper in Saline County
A suspect is dead, and a state trooper is recovering from minor injuries following a shooting in Saline County on Tuesday night.
According to a post on X from the Missouri Highway Patrol, a suspect wanted for a homicide in another state was being chased by Concordia Police.
Missouri State Troopers joined the pursuit.
The suspect crashed into a trooper’s car and then ran away on foot.
During the chase, the suspect shot at officers, who fired back and killed them. One trooper was hit but was shielded by a bulletproof vest.
The trooper was treated at a hospital and later released.
Upon completion of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s investigation of the shooting, all reports will be forwarded to the Saline County Prosecuting Attorney for review.
