The St. Patrick’s Day parade will be rolling in Baton Rouge on Saturday under sunny skies, with no rain in the forecast, the National Weather Service said Thursday.
The cold front that brought lightning, thunder, sheets of rain and a tornado watch for Baton Rouge Wednesday night is “down in the Gulf now,” said NWS meteorologist Danielle Manning.
Must be the luck of the Irish.
The “Wearin’ of the Green Parade,” which made its first appearance in 1986, then became an annual event some years later, begins at 11 a.m. at Hundred Oaks Boulevard and South Acadian Thruway and travels through the Garden District before ending at Perkins Road and Stanford Avenue.
Saturday’s daytime weather is predicted to be clear and sunny, with a high near 76 degrees. Baton Rouge will enjoy a nice evening, too, with an expected low that night of 58 degrees.
“It should be a really nice day,” Manning said.
It’s a nice interlude for the parade — a thunderstorm is expected on Sunday night, along with a temperature drop for the first part of next week, which includes a predicted low around 38 degrees on Monday night.
