RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Ohio — The cities of Richmond Heights and South Euclid will have Memorial Day parades on Monday (May 26), just two of the events Sun Messenger communities are holding in observance of the holiday.
Richmond Heights
The Richmond Heights parade will be the fourth Memorial Day parade since the tradition was restarted in 2022 after a break of several years.
Memorial Day will begin with a ceremony from 10-10:30 a.m. at Richmond Heights Community Park, 27285 Highland Road.
The parade will step off at 11:30 a.m. from Momentive Technologies, 24400 Highland Road (the former home of General Electric), and head east on Highland Road to Richmond Heights Community Park.
At the park, a community picnic will be held from noon to 3 p.m.
South Euclid
The South Euclid Memorial Day Parade will step off at 9 a.m. Monday from the former Notre Dame College property, 1857 S. Green Road.
The parade will proceed north on South Green Road for approximately 1.5 miles to the city’s veterans memorial at South Green and Anderson roads.
A brief ceremony honoring those who have died in service to the country will be held at the parade’s conclusion at the veterans memorial.
Mayfield Village
The village will commemorate Memorial Day from 1-2 p.m. Sunday, May 25 at Whitehaven Memorial Park, 615 SOM Center Road.
The community is invited to join in remembering all who perished in war, as the Disabled American Veterans help lead a ceremony honoring veterans of all wars.
The event will include music, speeches, and a color guard.
Mayfield Heights
Mayfield Heights will conduct a Memorial Day service from 10-11 a.m. Monday at city hall, 6154 Mayfield Road.
Residents are invited to join Mayor Anthony DiCicco and City Council members in honoring and remembering those who died and those currently serving in the United States Armed Forces.
A Fire Honor Guard unit will stand guard at the Honor Roll Wall outside city hall, which includes the names of Mayfield Heights residents who have served our country.
The Police Honor Guard will fire a 21-gun salute and special music will be played as sacrifices veterans made for the country are remembered.
