Hagan Hord is a fifth-generation Grand Prairie resident.

Stuttgart native Hagan Hord is competing on the Miss Arkansas stage next month. Hord was crowned the 2025 Miss Grand Prairie, qualifying her for the statewide competition.

Hord, daughter of Dr. Eddy and Katie Hord, just finished her junior year at the University of Mississippi. She is studying Integrated Marketing Communications.

“I have two emphases. One is in public relations, and the other is in health communications. I am studying all of that to hopefully get my master’s degree in healthcare administration and go into hospital admin,” Hord said.

June will mark Hord’s first time competing in Miss Arkansas. She has participated in pageants since junior high, earning both the Junior Queen Mallard and Queen Mallard titles during the Wings Over the Prairie Festival.

“It introduced me to the outgoing and charismatic side of pageantry, where you are interacting with all these different people from different walks of life. That inspired me to leap into the Miss Arkansas organization,” Hord said.

Every Miss Arkansas contestant chooses a platform to address something they are passionate about. Hord’s community service initiative is Move For More, promoting mental and physical health through exercise. She chose this initiative after dislocating her shoulder and tearing her labrum while playing softball during her senior year at Stuttgart High School.

“Through that recovery period, I was going to physical therapy and sitting out of some softball games. I saw firsthand the direct correlation between a lack of physical exercise and a decline in overall well-being. Since then, I have made it my mission to hopefully reach every corner of the state and talk about the benefits of exercise, getting up, getting active, and like the tagline says, Moving for More,” Hord said.

Hord has a lifelong passion for dance. She will bring her talents to the Miss Arkansas stage.

Dancing is one of Hord’s lifelong passions. Her Move for More community service initiative and her talent for the competition go hand in hand.

“I was taught the fundamentals of dance from a former Miss Arkansas from Stuttgart, Micki Konecny. I have always loved dancing. It has always been something that I have done frequently. I am excited to get back into it and perform on the Miss Arkansas stage,” Hord said.

Hord will perform a jazz dance to Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary” for the competition’s talent portion.

“That is a song that everybody knows and loves. I am excited to bring that energy and hopefully some dancing and singing in the audience as well,” Hord said.

She will also meet with judges for a private interview and answer an onstage question. Hord said she is excited to participate in every component of the competition.

“It is my first time doing it, so I am kind of going in with rose-colored glasses,” Hord said. “I have already had such good experiences with the organization leading up to the competition week, so I have high expectations for what the week will offer. It will hopefully lead to some scholarship dollars and more connections, friendships, and memories.”

Hord said she is grateful for her hometown supporters, including former Miss Arkansas and Stuttgart native Cori Keller. She worked with Keller while interning at Baptist Health last summer.

“Cori has been such a huge help with the whole Miss Arkansas process,” Hord said. “She got the ball rolling on me entering my first Miss Arkansas preliminary and helping me with all the logistics of it. She has been a huge character in all of this and the success behind the Miss Grand Prairie title.”

Hord is the middle child of three girls. She said her two sisters, Lauren and Addison, and her mom, Katie, have helped her along her journey to Miss Arkansas.

“They were the ones that have been like riding the crazy train with me on the road to Miss Arkansas. My mom and I have been hand in hand every step of the way, and she is the calm to my crazy,” Hord said.

Hord’s Move for More platform promotes mental and physical health through exercise.

Growing up in Stuttgart has also provided Hord with significant community support. She is a fifth-generation Grand Prairie resident.

“I feel like I am at an advantage because I know so many people. They do not just know my name. They know my family and my sisters. They know where we went to school and who we graduated with. There is a very deep connection that I have with Stuttgart. I am so thankful for the community here because I seriously would not be here without the texts, the calls, the Facebook messages, and all of the support and prayers,” Hord said.

The Miss Arkansas pageant will be held at the Robinson Performance Hall in Little Rock beginning Saturday, June 7, and concluding Saturday, June 14.
